Medicinal Usage:
Fresh Plantain Leaves rubbed on fresh stings and bug bites that takes the sting and itch out. Can be taken for diarrhea, heavy mucus, sore throats, and coughs. An infusion of the seeds can be taken for constipation.

The Plantain seeds are edible as well as the young leaves. Dried Plantain Leaves are used to make tea.

Plantain Ointment for Wounds
¼ cup dried plantain
2½ cups petroleum jelly or soft paraffin wax
Melt the petroleum jelly or wax in a double boiler then stir in the herbs. Heat for 2 hours. Strain through a jelly bag or cheesecloth. You may have to use rubber gloves to squeeze it through the jelly bag. Then quickly pour the mixture into short glass storage jars with lids.
