Mixed Agate Mala Beads

Mixed Agate Mala Beads, or Mixed Agate Japa Mala Beads, are made of mixed agate gemstone beads. Agate is said to enhance one's perceptiveness and to stimulate analytical capacity, and to provide balance between one's physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual states. Agate is also said to alleviate hostilities and promote goodwill. Agate is said to help treat disorders of the pancreas and to improve circulation.

What are Japa Mala Beads:
Since the dawn of time, man has used stone beads strung in a circle as a powerful spiritual symbol. Japa Mala, or "Mala" Beads, Mala, which means a garland of beads, flowers or prayers, is also known as a rosary or prayer beads. Mala beads are used to keep count of your mantras (Sanskrit prayers) while in meditation. The large summit bead, otherwise known as the 'sumeru' (mountain), or guru bead, provides a starting and ending point on the mala for counting the repetitions. Mala beads are an ancient tool that was developed to keep the mind focused on the practice of meditation.

They are generally made from different materials, and each material has specific properties which subtly affect the subconscious mind of the practitioner which in turn affects the various aspects of the spiritual and physical body. Mala Beads may be worn on the body, either inside or outside clothing to maintain the energies and power gained from meditation and spiritual use.

Mala Bead Use:
A mala can be used with either hand. Always start with the first bead after the main or 'Guru' bead. As you repeat your mantra, move each bead with the thumb towards the body over the meridian point on your middle finger. As you progress, the Guru bead first descends and then ascends on the other sound. When you reach the Guru bead, repeat the mantra and make a prayer. To begin again, turn the mala around and continue from the start again.
