Tree-Free Greetings is committed to being 100% tree-free! Paper can be made from any plant cellulose - from banana peels to cotton plants. These beautiful note cards are made of Kenaf, a 4000 year old crop with roots in ancient Africa. This wonder fiber is related to hibiscus and is a cousin to cotton and okra. Currently grown in the southern U.S., Kenaf rises to heights of 12-14 feet in less than 6 months. It even produces a beautiful white flower that looks great in residential gardens!
Currently, Tree-Free Greetings uses kanaf paper as often as supply allows. Their envelopes use 100% kenaf uncoated paper whenever available. The vibrant and colorful card images require naturally coated (with clay) kenaf paper. This didn't exist before they made it! The paper mills are slowly progressing towards using more and more kenaf in their mill process. The last card paper order was up to 30% Kenaf.
Help keep our forest Tree-Full! Use Tree-Free Note Cards! Tree-free paper can be recycled.
