A Handfasting Cord Set includes a beautiful white jeweled laced wedding bag and a braided two toned colored cord with clamshell cord caps.

The white jeweled laced wedding bag has 10 jeweled clear dangles that are each adorned with a heart. The bag is made of organza with beautiful embroidery decorating the edges. It has a satin ribbon drawstring that is also decorated with jeweled clear dangles.

The braided two toned colored cord is available in your choice of colored satin, and include standard gold clamshell cord caps at each end which are both decorative and useful. The clamshell cord caps keep the cord from unwinding or unraveling. They are a much better solution to maintaining the integrity of your braided handfasting cord than a simple knot or simply melting the cord ends.

One custom is for the couple to face each other and place their right hands together and then their left hands together to form an infinity symbol while a cord is tied around their hands in a knot. Another custom is for the man and woman to place their right hands only together while a cord is used to tie a knot around their wrists.

The couple takes turns reciting their vows of promise to be engaged for a year and a day in front of witnesses. On the last day of the Year and a Day promise, they would then make a promise for infinity repeating their promise to each other again. A cord is tied in a knot around their hands while the ritual takes place. This is where the term Tie the Knot came from when referring to getting engaged or married today.
