Elderberries

Elderberries are whole, and sold by the ounce.

Elderberries are a large deciduous shrub with corky gray-brown bark. Its leaves grow on both sides of the stem. Tiny cream flowers bloom in early summer followed by round black berries (elder berries). The berries are harvested in the fall.

Elderberries may be used as a diaphoretic to break fevers, urinary complaints, edema, rheumatic complaints, colds, flu symptoms, and muscle pain.
