Our Altar Boards are exquisitely handcrafted of the highest quality 3/8 inch birch wood with original lithographed art protected under a high gloss top coating.
Earth Element Altars have a beautiful realistic oak leaf background. A leafy green Pentacle is centered over a bright green glowing triple moon design. All of this is over Green dancing flames that represent the sun and the male aspect.
The five pointed star is also known as the Star of the Microcosm, Witches Foot, The Morning Star, The Evening Star and The Endless knot depending on your beliefs or location in this macrocosm.
Pythagoras, considered by some as the Grandfather of Divination, utilized the Pentacle to represent the human being with the points of the star representing the head, arms and legs, adding the circle unifies and creates Spirit. His disciples wore rings bearing the symbol to identify Brothers of like mind. Also remember the Pentacle represents phi, 1.618, the perfect number. This number symbolizes perfection in all things that exist on this plane. Numerology was a Pythagorean specialty.
In this image the Pentacle represents the four elements of Earth in the North, Air in the East, Fire in the South, and Water in the West.
Below the pentacle we have placed the protective symbol of a fiery TRIPLE MOON which is a symbol of the triple Goddess in motion, the three phases of the moon, waxing, full and waning, and the three phases of womanhood, maiden, mother and crone. Any ritual proceedings could benefit from having a pentacles protection of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water, which all are under the control of the fifth element of the Spirit.
