This two part design is a very smart idea to allow for the chalice to be cleaned easily, yet protect the outer ornate sheath preventing any damage to the overall design.
There is much detail from the dragons talons clutching the celtic knotwork outer shell, down to the smallest scale or wrinkle in its skin.
