The term "paten" comes from Middle English, from the Old French "patene", from Medieval Latin "patina", from Latin "pan", and from Greek "patane", meaning "platter".
The altar paten is placed directly on the alter, on top of an altar cloth. It is usually made of wood or metal and displays a pentacle or other protective symbol.
Objects are placed upon the paten during magickal workings. Altar Patens are useful for consecrating amulets and other tools.
I just wanted to let you know that my friend received the Winter Solstice statue and went simply mad over it. I will certainly be using your services in the future. You have wonderful products and great service.
